The text above, was read in Volvo's sales brochure, when Volvo first presented its high-performance "R-Model" in the mid-90s. Where "R" stands for Refined and means that the car is "refined", which in Volvo parlance means that the car has a higher performance and a sportier appearance.
The R, which indicates the particularity of the model, can be found in several places on the car, such as in the grill, the steering wheel, the brake caliper, the rims and in the upholstery.
The last true R models were introduced in 2003, with the models: V70R AWD and S60R AWD. The V70R AWD has a peak output of a whopping 300 hp and a torque of 400 Nm…
The power is transferred via a six-speed manual box, alternatively a five- or six-speed automatic transmission to the four-wheel drive from Haldex.
A novelty on the V70R was the active chassis Four-C, which let the driver himself decide how the chassi should behave. This was adjusted with a simple button on the dashboard between modes: Comfort, Sport and Advances Sport. This was Volvo's model with extra everything! In 2004, a total of 2,888 V70R AWD with automatic transmission were produced.
We now have the pleasure of presenting one of these rare examples in fantastic condition. The car is painted in the unique color "Flash Green" and equipped with most of what was available when ordering. A complete equipment list is available to read here.
This example was delivered new by Ericssons Bil AB in Gällivare, in the far north of Sweden to its first owner. He then used the car until 2017, when the car's last owner took over. The car has been cared for in a fantastic way and is beautiful both on the outside and not. The engine runs like a joy and is fantastic to drive.
